LIGHT ASYLUM is the reverential EBM, darkwave, techno project of self-taught, interdisciplinary performance artist, founder, vocalist and producer Shannon Funchess. Founded in Brooklyn, New York in 2007, the project has toured extensively through Europe, Eastern Europe, North America and Scandinavia performing at nightclubs and festivals. Funchess has collaborated with Sweden's The Knife and Detroit's ADULT. as a featured vocalist and credited producer on their respective studio albums and was featured on TV On the Radio’s debut EP ‘Young Liar’s’ as well as !!!’s (chk chk chk) “Heart Of Hearts” single. Funchess has also been DJing nightclubs, renegade raves and art events since the mid 90's with her first DJ gig as a resident at a pirate radio station in downtown Seattle, Washington and resident at the HotBox party at Aerospace Club. A guest at Discwoman, BOUND NYC, The Lot Radio, Ficken 3000, Coffin Club, dublab, Dream House, Synthicide, Elsewhere, Institute of Contemporary Art Boston and Portland Institute For Contemporary Art, she continues to DJ regularly and produce, perform and release music under the LIGHT ASYLUM moniker in 2022.

KONTRAVOID is the new brainchild of Cameron Findlay (Ex-CRYSTAL CASTLES, Ex-PARALLELS). The name belongs on a limited run cassette circa 1980-something, the type of tape buried in lost upstate dustbins of analogue electronics, wedged between CABARET VOLTAIRE and DAS DING. The dark Industrial and New Wave influences are strong on Findlay’s new project: His voice is scary, like an echoing underwater growl - but the underlying pop melodies always afford a degree of breathing room.
