rave act renamed..and back in force

This year supporters of the draconian drug war bill are
back with a vengeance. They have stopped calling it the "RAVE Act"
and have stuck its provisions in a popular omnibus domestic security
bill. This is a common Congressional ploy: put controversial bills
that can't go anywhere on their own into important bills, so that
Members of Congress are forced to vote for them.

Your help is needed to stop these disguised RAVE Act provisions from
becoming law!!!

The bill, S.22, is sponsored by Senator Tom Daschle (D-SD). The
troubling drug war provisions are in the section entitled "Crack
House Statute Amendments"

ACTIONS TO TAKE

*** Call your two Senators. You can contact your Senators through the
Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121. To find out who your Senators
are go to: http://www.senate.gov/senators/senator_by_state.cfm.
Tell them:
1) You oppose the "crack house statute" amendments in S.22.
2) These provisions are just like the provisions in the RAVE Act
last year.
3) The provisions would endanger public health, free speech, and
property rights.
4) Urge them to contact Daschle's office and work to get these
provisions removed from S.22.

** Fax Senator Daschle (even if he is not one of your two Senators).
To fax Senator Daschle go to:
http://actioncenter.drugpolicy.org/...ep=2&item=1448.

** Please forward this action alert to your friends and family. The
Senate needs to know that voters find this bill unacceptable.

For more information on the RAVE Act and how the S. 22 "crack house"
provisions will affect public health, free speech, and property
rights see: http://www.nomoredrugwar.org/music/rave_act.htm

The problem with protesting this is that the majority of the population, especially parents, are in complete agreement of this. If people just let everything be, and stop making noise about raves they will eventually find something else to call the next cancer on our children.

yes...let us lie down while they take our rights away......not

i dont know about your parents but i know for a fact mine wont support them........ it also has alot of people in the bizz...record store owners label owners, artists, promoters, party kids, venue owners, bar owners..........this bill affects alot of non- ravers as well as ravers.

stop letting them take your rights away from you........even if you could care less about the rights they are taking away, one day they could take away one that you do like....

It's not that I want to lay down for them. I just don't think their will be enough support. Now I may be misjudging how people feel about raves, but I know a large percentage of white suburbia is not gonna be trying to get this act dropped, at least if I judge based on where I live. I 'd love to see the govt change their minds because of this, and hell maybe I'll send something, but if you aren't educated in your argument, or don't go about it maturely it could hurt more than help.

we just have to continue using the same arguements. Tell them this is just rave-act re-intro and that it also affects mainstream music and entertainment because drugs are everywhere whether you like to admit it or not.

i can see you didn't read the provisions on the bill......there will be no underground......and if there is, well then you can just say fuck it when they pass a bill saying no more then 20 people can get together after dark cause "underground party's are whats killing our kids"

some of you people make me sick...if it was up to some of you we would still be englands bitches.....hey it doesn't matter if they take away our rights cause then it will go underground......that is untill they take that away also....under whatever excuse they feel the need to use like" no more then 20 people after dark because they could be setting up a terrorist attack"

laugh now...cry later..........stop being bitches....call the people and tell them your not a bitch and wont stand for your rights to be taken away......end of story

oh what can i do, they wont listen, i'm just one person,,,, boo-hoo, i'm just a little bitch

make a fucking stand now for what you believe in, or else you can kiss your scene...underground or not..goodby

exactly

it aint the fucking drugs....shit more people die every year from huffing airplane glue then people that die from x.

can you say control, control over what people do in there free time?

i dont see them shutting down the high schools(where everybody knows that there are more drugs there then at any rave.....whats the deal with that?

fuck them basterds....if they want to take away rights.....they should take away the right to be a fucking idiot in a leadership position...but then we'd have noone running the country.

stand up for what you say you believe in, for what most of you say you love and cant live without.

the music

You aren't taking a stand for the music, you're taking a stand for the scene. No one is attacking our music just the places we can go see it. Since the music IS what I care about I could give a shit less if I have to go to The Quest to see it.

"Theoretically" they can close the quest if the authorities see reason. IF this bill is passed. But seriosly. It's being blown out of proportion. All it means is that alot of kids wont be able to lie to thier parents, adn go kill thier brains every fri-sat. night

High profile clubs, like the quest, etc. Do run a good operation. And the Police, etc. Know these things. Reputation preceeding..

If someone can give me a legit senario for the twin cites major entertaiment center's to be closed by this bill, w.o going out on a limb to do so. Then i'll follow you all the way.

Exactly the type of responses that scare me. I bet you'd be amazed how many people like Kandie would respond with something like that, or maybe not.

This is what makes the scene look bad. If people would grow up, not worry about "rolling their asses off" at parties (not implying that this is what Kandie does), and keep drug use minimal, we wouldn't be having this problem.

yeah plush is a great place i'm sure...but i can bet you that it wasn't as bad ass, well run then buzz.....which just got shut down not long ago.

they use the music to say who stays open and who dont.....your right plush should have no problem at all....if they switch to country or r-n-b

are you guys really that dumb to whats going on in the scene?

they have been closing down clubs...since about 96-97

or maybe you guys think that edm can survive with the little amount of people you can pack into a club every night?

you see record sales to dj's(that play at rave party's) and not big name clubs is another driving force...sure people will still spin...but not as many..how hard would it be to break into a scene where you only have a club to play at?

the backbone of the edm community has been and always will be the shows...it's where the big talent plays, where the kids here new music, where new dj's can be heard...

now have you guys thought about just who you get to see at your club? think it would be hawtin, mills, cox? think of how big your space is and how much those artists cost.....now how much would you have to charge to break even? right.....

you guys need to read the bill and understand that no club, bar, anywhere is safe with this act.....clubs that play this kind of music can only mean x use..and when they come to your club, and they will...you can bet they will find some idiots with x..and there goes your scene..IF THEY SHUT DOWN BUZZ>>>>>THEN THEY CAN AND WILL SHUT DOWN PLUSH

And now, w/ that legit answeer. I agree w/ alot of what you say. Keep in mind that I was not around in 96-97 to witness alot of this. But it is a "rooting for the underdogg" scenario here. Ravers Vs. Parents/Media/Government

Or should it be elctronic music enthusiasts vs. Parents, etc .. You'd stand a better chance.. Kandie is actually not a bad guy. His heart's just in the wrong place on this one. And he's not one to Email our senate, etc. Screaming PLUR on thier front lawns.

-----

Has it occured that we could change.. i mean is a party all day on a sat. that hard to do? W. helpfull state provided security helping alongthe way. With ALL your proper permits.

I have done it in the past.. but NO-ONE shows up.. garunteed.. why is that? what's so important about being out all night? What's so hard about not using yor "buddies" as security. Is it all jsut $$ issues?

i'm sorry that the top crews in the us ask me for advice on shows and not you(including joe from boogie tribe, rezza from go ventures, brandon from wishing well prod, adam and lucas from relode chicago, louis from vibonauts, bevin from firestone, paul from spundae, joel from amonly, etc, etc)

i just offer information with no strings attached....i dont want your respect.......what would that get me? a whole lot of nothing? i get respect from people that knows whats up in the scene...and you can tell if they know whats up cause it's all about who you know brother, always has been, but you again wouldn't know that.

let me again wish you well with whatever you choose to do in life brother, cause psyc isn't going to pay your bills.....hopefully i've anwsered all your questions to your amusment..have a great night.

oh one more thing..............please anyone reading this....do not respect me or like me....i have enough friends , i dont need or want anymore, simply use what i post and try to educate yourself about the scene(the whole world scene and not just your local scene) listen to new mixes and new dj's and try to understand what is going on in the scene around you and the world....cause the scene is world wide and with knowledge comes understanding.....ploease dont think like andy here because he went to some shows on the weekends that you have taken it as far as it can go, travel, see some of the other scenes, keep a open mind about music always, and NEVER give someone respect over a message board.....unless of course andy tells you to....hahahaha

Don't worry kids Superkool, is going to save us all. Preach it to me brother. Your like a one man army...
